Its
unwise to assume that everything you see creeping and scurrying
around your house and yard is up to no good.
Although more than 86,ooo species of insects have been
identified in North America, making up approximately 85 percent
of all living creatures on the continent, only about 1 percent
can hurt you and damage or destroy your belongings. Dont classify anything as a pest unless it causes trouble.
Making pests Unwelcome You would never hang out a sign saying
Pests Cordially Invited.
But conditions in your home may offer a comfortable haven
where pests flock not only to visit but also to nest and
multiply. Some like
it hot, some like it cool, and most like moisture and darkness,
and all like something to eat.
Damp, dark areas are favorite habitats, as are kitchens
and bathrooms, If you dont leave them a gourmet meal in the
kitchen theyll snack on carpets, books, even the walls of
your house. Sometimes,
despite faultless housekeeping and the best of intentions, pests
enter in bags or cartons from the grocery store, in furniture or
even in secondhand appliances.
Television sets, because of their darkness and warmth,
are prime offenders.
Zeroing on the Worst Offenders Indoors & Outdoors The National
Pest Control Association says the 10 most common household pests
are cockroaches, mice, rats, termites, ants and carpenter ants,
fleas, dog ticks, spiders, and silverfish.
Each requires different tactics for eradication.
We
at command understand that no two properties are the same.
Therefore we at command use our own Integrated Pest
Management system. Our
Integrated Pest Management typically involves five steps:
INSPECTION-
We look for conditions that favor infestation; food and water
that can be used by pests; probable means of entry as well as
actual specimens or their cast skins.
DIAGNOSIS-
Our diagnosis not only includes identifying the pest,
but also identifying any contributing factors such as moisture,
or favorable conditions.
RECOMMENDATION-
We will explain what,
how,
when,
and where
we will use the control to correct the problem. Often the recommendation will include not only what we can do
for you, but also what you can do in the way of habitat removal
to make the control effort a more successful and lasting one.
APPLICATION-
We can apply pesticides to both the inside and outside
of your home and/or buildings.
They are most effective if applied to areas most
frequently inhabited by the pests.
We apply pesticides in a manner that is safe to you, your
family and pets.
EVALUATION-
Periodical evaluations are perhaps the best way to
ensure the continuing success of insect control program.
