Your
home is a major investment. When it comes to protecting
that investment from the destructive forces of termites,
it only makes sense to turn to a leader in
termite control. We've been protecting homes like yours
ever since 1990.
Through
the years, we have built on this foundation by continuing
to develop and test new methods of termite control. Our
mission has been, and always will be, to ensure that we
successfully provide homeowners like you with the best
termite protection available - guaranteed.
Inspectors
Our
inspectors are extensively trained to provide you with the
best possible termite inspection.
Our
inspectors are also being updated wit new information
about location detection and treatment of termites.
Our
inspectors will provide you with a wood-destroying
organism report form upon request (required by most banks
for home finance) at time of inspection.
Our
inspectors will give you an estimate at time of inspection
for any and all types of treatment for termites found at
property.
Our
inspectors will also provide you with an estimate for any
minor wood repairs that may be needed on your home at time
of inspection.

Home is Safe from Termites
The
biggest problem with termites is that you usually don't
see them or the damage they cause until it's too late. In
fact, the annual cost of termite damage to homes in the
U.S. is greater than that of fires, storms and floods
combined!
Termites
are extremely well organized and they can find a way
inside your home, regardless of its construction. That's
why Command Pest Control offers many treatment methods for termite control and elimination.
Most Common
Termites Found in Florida
Subterranean
Termites
As
their name implies, subterranean termites live in the
soil. In the past, they have been difficult to control
because their nests are deep underground and their
colonies can contain up to one million members. When they
find a reliable food source, they'll return to it again
and again.
Through
our years of research and experience, we've found that the
most effective way to control or eliminate a subterranean
termite colony is with the Command Pest Control Program
featuring the
use of Termidor
Termiticide.
This method targets termites where they live - in the
underground colony.
Drywood
Termites
Unlike
their subterranean cousins, drywood termites do not need
to maintain contact with the ground for moisture. As a
result, they require a completely different treatment. If
your home is attacked by drywood termites, tent fumigation
is the most effective option to combat an infestation.

Subterranean
Termite
Reticulitermes and Coptotermes spp
The most widespread group of termites. They cause most
of the termite damage to structural timbers in the United
States. Nests are usually in the soil.

Description:
The winged reproductive of subterranean termites are black,
flattened and about 1/2 inch long. The workers are wingless,
about 1/4 inch long and white with a round, yellow-brown head.
The soldiers are also wingless and have white bodies and
large, rectangular, yellow-brown heads with large mandibles
(jaws).
Fiction:
New homes are not susceptible to termite damage.
Fact:
Subterranean Termites are native to every state except Alaska.
These little critters cause annually $1 billion worth of
damage nation wide. Termites eat wood from the inside out, so
detection is limited unless you are a trained professional.
Subterranean Termites colonies are usually located in he soil,
from which the workers build mud tubes to the wood in
structures on which they feed. The dirt tubes are usually
located on the outside coming up from the ground, along the
footings of the foundation and into the home. Termites will
also enter the home through cracks in the concrete. This
access point can be undetectable until damage has already been
notice. One tale-tale sign is dirt tubes coming out from the
ceiling or the wall. Subterranean Termites are always
connected to the soil or moisture source. Termites eat
cellulose in wood with the help of a special organism in their
gut. Although termites look for certain types of wood with a
certain moisture content, all wood is susceptible to termite
damage if it is the only source of cellulose.

Drywood
Termites
Kalotermes, Incisitermes, and others.
Found in the extreme south in a narrow strip from east to west
coast. These termites nest in undecayed wood with very
low moisture content.

Drywood
Termite Damage
These
termites nest in damp or dry wood excavating extensive galleries
(left and right) clean of any debris (soil, stains, wood
chips or shavings) other than their distinctive fecal
pellets (below). Drywood termites have the
ability to thrive under arid conditions and are often
inadvertently distributed in furniture or other wooden
materials, making them difficult structural pests..

Drywood
Termite Frass (fecal pellets)
The fecal
pellets are short hexagonal cylinders with one end blunt
and the other pointed. Each side has a longitudinal
groove, formed by three pairs of anal muscles. Each
pellet is compacted and squeezed to extract all the
available water before it is defecated. These pellets
are expelled from the galleries at "kick-out
holes" on the exterior of the infested wood.
